Chlorella is a genus of single-celled green algae, belonging to the phylum Chlorophyta. It is spherical in shape, about 2 to 10 μm in diameter, and is without flagella. Chlorella contains the green photosynthetic pigments chlorophyll-a and -b in its chloroplast. Through photosynthesis it multiplies rapidly requiring only carbon dioxide, water, sunlight, and a small amount of minerals to reproduce.

Application 

1. Chlorella is a type of algae that grows in fresh water. The whole plant is used to 

make nutritional supplements and medicine.                                                    

 2. Chlorella is also used to increase “good” bacteria in the intestine in order to improve

 digestion; and to help treat ulcers, colitis, Crohns disease, and diverticulosis.                                                                               

3.Chlorella is applied to the skin for treating skin ulcers, rashes caused by radiation treatment, 

and a sexually transmitted disease called trichomoniasis.
